Apollo Global Management Inc. is purchasing both Yahoo and AOL from Verizon in a $5 billion deal. Verizon is seeking to reinvest its resources away from its media holdings, having sold off the social media platform Tumblr to the owner of WordPress.org, and the HuffPost online newspaper to BuzzFeed.
