James Meaney is Of Counsel to Warren Law Group
James has litigated in federal and state courts throughout New York City and Long Island for nearly two decades. He has handled all aspects of the prosecution and defense of various cases. This has involved pre-suit attempts to avoid litigation, post-judgment appeals, and everything in between, such as managing large discovery production, taking and defending depositions, drafting and arguing dispositive motions, and conducting trials.
James began his career working for an international law firm, where he learned to litigate by representing insurance companies in coverage disputes, and first-party and third-party claims. Over the past decade, James managed a general practice law firm on Long Island. He represented clients in a variety of matters, including landlord/tenant actions, foreclosure defense, real estate transactions, commercial litigation, securities arbitrations, as well as family court cases and criminal defense.

- Represented a homeowner in a dispute with a neighbor over title issues and adverse possession claims
- Represented various landlords in their efforts to evict non-paying or unwanted tenants, including advising them on the complexities arising from COVID-related changes to the law
- Represented a large institution with several properties for dozens of code violations issued by a local municipality
- Represented the owner of an apartment building against premises liability claims
- Represented an individual in the negotiation for the purchase of a small business
- Represented the seller of a contracting business in a breach of contract case against the purchaser
- Represented heirs in challenges to the probate of a will
- Represented a disabled veteran in his efforts to obtain social security disability benefits
- Represented a family facing foreclosure in having the case dismissed for the bank’s failure to comply with various statutory requirements
